The bishop was nursing a headache, taking a much-needed moment in his office, when the phone rang. “Yes?”
“Bishop Edwards?” said his secretary.
“Father Clement on the phone. St. Vincent de Paul Parish.
The bishop paused, weighing whether this was a good enough occasion to lie. Surely God would understand. He’d met Father Clement too…
